From the very first pour, Charles Heidsieck Brut Millesime 2012 reveals its dynamic character with a radiant energy. This vintage captures the optimism of a tumultuous year turned triumphant, embodying a joyous balance of finesse, vibrancy and depth, a signature of Charles Heidsieck’s house style.
The colour is a brilliant golden yellow with subtle green glints and vibrant effervescence. The nose immediately impresses with complexity. Candied citrus and dried fruits lead the aromatic profile, accompanied by warm nuances of pecan, hazelnut and delicate brioche.
On the palate, the wine is taut yet generous. There is a lively, mineral‑charged character, a refined creaminess and a polished mouthfeel underpinned by precise acidity. The finish is notably long, enriched with rich caramel‑tinged notes and a racy, crystalline quality.
The blend is masterfully classic, comprising 60 percent Pinot Noir and 40 percent Chardonnay, all sourced from Grand and Premier Crus located in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. The wine was disgorged in April 2019 with a dosage of 8 g/L and bottled with a Diam Mytik cork, reflecting the house’s technical precision and quality control.
The growing season of 2012 was marked by unpredictability. Early frost and summer rains threatened the harvest, but a turn of fine weather in late August paved the way for a surprisingly excellent vintage. Harvest took place in mid‑September with reasonable yields, producing a wine that combines tension, purity of fruit and structural grace.
This Champagne now enters a compelling maturity phase. It sings with energy today yet promises to evolve further over the next decade.
