À Contre-Courant Meunier is Harlin Père et Fils’ pure expression of 100% Meunier from Mareuil-le-Port. Harlin brings together two contrasting terroirs: the clay of La Fortelle, which the estate associates with roundness, and the sands of Chemin de l’Orme, which contribute vivacity.
The blend comprises 46% from the 2019 harvest and 54% from the 2014 to 2018 harvests. The terroir is evenly divided between 50% clay and 50% sand, while élevage is split equally between oak barrels and stainless steel.
The wine was disgorged on 7 March 2023 and is presented as a Brut Nature with zero dosage. Production is limited to 3,194 bottles and 30 magnums. Harlin describes the cuvée as frank and fruity, with the contrasting clay and sandy terroirs working together to balance roundness and energy.
The estate sees À Contre-Courant Meunier as a naturally convivial Champagne, particularly well suited to a barbecue or a substantial aperitif.
Style: Frank and fruity, balancing roundness from clay soils with vivacity from sandy soils.
