Une Longue Escapade 2018 is Harlin Père et Fils’ vintage Champagne, produced from equal proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It reflects the 2018 harvest across Harlin’s terroirs, with the supplied back label referencing Tours-sur-Marne, Épernay and Mareuil-le-Port, while Harlin’s current website describes the cuvée through Tours-sur-Marne and Mareuil-le-Port.
The vineyards are divided equally between chalk and sandy soils. Harlin describes the wine as rich, elegant and intense. The estate’s current tasting note highlights floral aromas lifted by citrus zest, followed by a dense palate and a finish that is both savoury and creamy.
The wine was bottled on 14 February 2019 (Valentine Day!) and disgorged on 11 July 2024. Production is limited to 6,019 bottles and the wine is finished as an Extra Brut with a dosage of 3 g/L. The combination of vintage depth, equal Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and low dosage makes this a distinctly gastronomic expression within the range.
