From the prestigious vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet comes this exceptional Premier Cru from Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard, one of Burgundy's most revered white wine producers. Under the meticulous stewardship of Caroline Lestime, who has managed the estate since 1989, this wine represents the pinnacle of Chardonnay expression from the highly sought-after Les Caillerets vineyard. The name "Les Caillerets" derives from the abundance of small stones (cailloux) found in the vineyard's unique terroir, which was classified as a "Première Cuvee" in 1855.
The 2015 vintage benefits from the estate's certified organic farming practices and biodynamic principles, implemented since 2014, ensuring pure expression of this exceptional terroir. The wine displays remarkable complexity on the nose, with elegant aromas of yellow plum, Mirabelle scents, and delicate white flowers, beautifully integrated with subtle oak influence. Caroline's philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking shines through, with whole-bunch pressing and fermentation in oak barrels (maximum 30% new with light toast) allowing the terroir to speak authentically.
On the palate, this Premier Cru reveals extraordinary class and balance, though initially more closed than other expressions, a characteristic hint of flint gives way to layers of crystalline fruit that unfold gracefully. The wine possesses uncommon refinement and precision, with a vibrancy that captivates through its emotional appeal and lovely grainy, nutty character that seems to last forever.
